For the determining sections, the maximum available ratings will be taken at the discretion of the referee (FQE and FIDE ratings will be adjusted upwards by 100 points).

Classical Tournament

5 Rounds: Friday 7:00 p.m., Saturday & Sunday @ 10:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.

Type: Regular Swiss

Sections and prizes are based on projected entries and may change. *

2000+ – 1st $2,500, 2nd $1,300 3rd $900

U2000 – 1st $1000, 2nd $500 3rd $350

U1700 – 1st $600, 2nd $350 3rd 250

U1400 – 1st $500, 2nd $300 3rd 200

Class – Rating

U2200 $500; U1850 $200; U1550 $150; U1200 $125

Class – Youth

U18 $500; U16 $200; U14 $150; U12 $125

Time Control: Game in 90 plus 30 seconds per move

Entry Fee:

2000+: $110 before October 1st, $120 between Oct. 1 to Nov. 19, $140 In person Nov. 20.

U2000: $95 before October 1st, $105 between Oct. 1 to Nov. 19, $125 In person Nov. 20.

U1700: $80 before October 1st, $90 between Oct. 1 to Nov. 19, $110 In person Nov. 20.

U1400: $70 before October 1st, $80 between Oct. 1 to Nov. 19, $100 In person Nov. 20.

Free entry for GM/WGM, IM/WIM, and FM/WFM. 

* Prizes are shareable and cannot be combined. Age Groups – Example: U12 = Under 12 at the beginning of 2026. Unrated players are only eligible to unrated prizes and class – youth.

End of Registration: Friday, November 20th, at 6:00 p.m.

Discovery Tournament

5 Rounds: Round 1 at 10:00 a.m., Round 2 at 11:15 a.m., Round 3 at 12:30 p.m., Round 4 at 1:45 p.m., and Round 5 at 3:00 p.m.

Type: Rapid Games – Swiss Pairings

Open: 1st $190, U1700 $150, U1400 $100, Unrated $50

Beginner Women (U1400): 1st $100, Unrated $50

Kids U12: 1st $100, Unrated $50

Kids U10: 1st $80, Unrated $40

Kids U8: 1st $60, Unrated $30

** The Open section is open to all. The Beginner Women section (1st tournament or rated under 1400) is for adults or female teenagers of 12 or more. FQE and FIDE ratings will be adjusted upwards by 100 pts.

Time Control: Game in 25 plus 5 seconds per move

Entry Fee:

Open: $20 before October 1st, $25 between Oct. 1 to Nov. 19, $35 In person Nov. 20.

Beginner Women: $10 before October 1st, $15 between Oct. 1 to Nov. 19, $25 In person Nov. 20.

Kids U12, U10, U8: $10 before October 1st, $15 between Oct. 1 to Nov. 19, $25 In person Nov. 20.

End of Registration: Friday, November 21st, at 9:30 a.m.

Tournament Director: Hubert Séguin

Membership cards: Quebec players must be members of the FQE orthose from outside Quebec of the CFC. If you are a new player or your card has expired, you can get a card from the federations. Single Tournament Option: When registering you can also take a card valid for the tournament only ($3 to $12 only depending on the tournament, age or province).

Upgrade (Classical Tournament: 2000+ section): Players with a rating between 1900 and 1999 can be upgraded in the 2000+ section.

Unrated: Player with no known rating from any federation (regular, quick and blitz)

Byes: Maximum of 2 byes of 1/2 points requested before the start of the tournament (rounds 1 to 3).

Forfeit: A player who is absent 30 minutes after the start of the round loses by default.
